Perry area adults who have taken part in this years summer reading program with the Perry Public Library will have the chance to celebrate later this week.
Library Director Mary Murphy says their annual finale party will take place Thursday.
“Our finale will be held at the Firehouse Ice Cream shop and we’re really looking forward to it because the Eiteman (family) is actually going to give us a tour of the (Iowa Fire Museum and Fire Prevention Education Center) that has been developed. I’m really kind of intrigued. We’ll have an ice cream treat and we’ll also select the grand prize (winners).”
Murphy says this program is something that has become a highlight of her year.
“The adult reading program is near and dear to my heart because it’s fun. It kind of rewards all of those adults read and have fun with it, just like the kids.”
Thursday’s program starts at 6:30pm and it’s open to anyone who registered for the summer reading program and completed the required book reviews.
