Greene County Supervisors 6_22The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

During the open forum, Bob Ausberger mentioned that the Lincoln Highway Garage Sale will be on August 13th through the 15th.  He also made the Supervisors aware of framework that is happening for one of the signs at the Lincoln Highway Interpretive Center.

The Supervisors then discussed a raise that they approved last week for the County Engineer’s Office Manager Sherry Graven.  It was mentioned that two employees in the County Treasurer’s office didn’t make as much as Graven, but Supervisor Chair John Muir said that was misinformation, because he found out that Graven doesn’t make as much as the two employees in the Treasurer’s office.  He added that their intention was solely directed at Graven for her increased job responsibilities, not to take anything away from others.  Supervisor Dawn Rudolph suggested that department heads should have employee job descriptions, so that the Board can have a better basis for their decisions.  No formal decision was made by the Board.

Rudolph also asked about funding for the public art initiative on the Raccoon River Valley Trail.  The Supervisors submitted a letter of support last October.  Now that funding was received through a grant, the Board will have to pay for part of the initiative.  Muir thought that half of the funding would come from County Conservation Reserves and the other half from Local Option Sales and Services Tax.  However, no formal decision was made by the Board.

Another follow up discussion took place about the unmuffled engine brake signs.  Rudolph asked why the signs were made when she thought no decision was made by the Board to create them.  Muir said he talked with County Engineer Wade Weiss about buying a few signs, because he didn’t think the Board would pass a countywide ordinance.  Weiss said he reacted quickly to the issue because he was going to be out of the office last week and wanted to get it done before he left.  Sheriff Steve Haupert added that he would like to see a countywide ordinance, but for now they can enforce the state’s excessive noise ordinance.
