After winning just 10 games and falling in the first round of the playoffs a year ago, the Guthrie Center Tigers baseball team, led by one of the most consistent pitching rotations in Class 1A, is just three wins away from a state tournament berth. That journey continues tonight, when Guthrie Center, with a record of 14-14, travels to conference foe Van Meter, who’ve amassed a terrific record of 23-9. Van Meter has won 11 of their last 12 games and that includes a double header blowout against Guthrie Center on June 30th, winning by scores of 12-4 and 6-0. Guthrie Center will try for redemption, with their season on the line, tonight at Van Meter, first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
