New Opportunities of Greene County is partnering with Jefferson Telecom to sponsor the annual Back to School Supply Drive.
New Opportunities Family Development Center Coordinator Teresa Lansman says last year they helped 241 children and she’s planning to support the same number this year. She points out that the start of each school year can be a burden on some families to afford supplies. Each child needs about $40 to $50 worth of school supplies to help them succeed and excel in school.
Lansman notes that she is looking for both families to sign up to receive donated school supplies, as well as community members to donate the items. A list of needed items is attached below. Sign up sheets are available at the New Opportunities office at 1401 North Elm Street in Jefferson. The deadline for families to register is by August 10th. Donations will be accepted until the end of July at either the New Opportunities office or Jefferson Telecom.
Supply pick up will be at New Opportunities on August 21st.
