The Perry Bluejays dropped their final regular season non-conference game to the #1 ranked Pella Dutch 6-5 in Pella. The Bluejays recorded nine hits and two errors, while the Dutch notched just 5 hits and committed two errors in the contest.
The third inning saw eight Perry batters come to the plate, scoring three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Senior Marcus Wittmer hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score for the home team. Perry re-took the lead in the 5th inning, but a three run home run from Grant Judkins would put the Dutch ahead for good. Perry would threaten in the 7th, however, pulling within 6-5 on a solo home run from Senior Will Whiton.
Jordan Meyer is credited with his 4th win of the season, surrendering four runs in five innings of work. Perry used four pitchers in the contest, but junior Alex Long is given the loss. Pella moves to 29-4 on the year and will host ADM on Tuesday, while Perry drops to 14-14 overall and will conclude their regular season on Wednesday at Winterset.
