adel logoThe Adel City Council will meet in regular session tonight.

At the meeting, concerned citizens are expected to address the Council in regards to flooding issues and the sewer system near Prairie Street, along with flooding problems near 1800 Main and Rapids streets.

The Council will then consider approval of funds spent for former Police Chief Jim McNeill’s retirement reception and flowers for City Clerk Jackie Steele’s father’s funeral, along with several liquor license applications, a library request and the addition of two probationary firefighters.

Next the Council will hear an update on the City’s new website, discuss a possible land option agreement for a 10 acre parcel west of the Adel Family Aquatic Center and discuss what, if anything, the City will do to support the Pedaler’s Jamoree bike ride scheduled to make its way through Adel on September 6th.

The Council will then have to decide which gas station to use to fuel City vehicles after Fuller’s BP closes at the end of the month, approve an old swimming pool site plan and consider the second readings of ordinances in regards to water, sewer and garbage use charges.

The seventh payment for the Adel Main Street Façade Rehabilitation Project will then be considered, along with the eighth change order for the project and a special event permit for AHeinz57’s annual Ruff Ride.  Appointments will be made to the Historic Preservation and Cable Television commissions, followed by discussion on no eligible applications being received for the vacancy on the Planning and Zoning Commission and consideration of approval of a helicopter landing during the Adel Sweet Corn Festival.

The meeting takes place at 6pm at the Adel City Hall.
