Greene County won its last home game of the baseball season, 8-3 over South Central Calhoun (Lake City) in Jefferson on Thursday night to improve to 18-10 overall. SCC ends its regular season at 10-15. Senior Jordan Hostetler pitched all seven innings and improved to 3-0 on the season. He allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks. Hostetler had one strikeout.

The Rams out hit the Titans 10 to five and all 15 hits were singles. Greene County had four errors to two for SSC. Daric Whipple singled three times to lead the Rams in hits. Colton Fitzpatrick had two singles and two runs batted in while Branden Miller had a two-run single, and Reid Lamoureux and Tyler Beger each added singles and one RBI. Seven of the Greene County runs were scored in the first inning with the other run in the third. The Titans scored two in the second and one in the fifth.

The regular season for the Rams ends today with a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference make up game in Nevada at 3 p.m. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team is 13-4 in HOIAC games and they have a chance to finish as high as second place in the conference behind league champion Gilbert.
