The Avian Flu has caused the cancellation of live poultry events at all of Iowa’s county fairs and the State Fair. Adair County Fair organizers didn’t let that spoil their fun, though. Fair Board Secretary Brenda Meisenheimer says they’ve substituted in some events to allow some poultry competition without having live birds. “They’re going to have a poultry ‘skillathon’, which is kind of knowledge of poultry. That will happen when the normal poultry show would have been going on. Also, there are lots of kids that are making up exhibits and displays to put in the 4H building regarding their poultry.”
The Adair County Fair runs July 15-19th this year at the fairgrounds in Greenfield.
