Jefferson Matters: Main Street (JMMS) is hosting a demolition party at 205 North Wilson Street.
The Jefferson City Council recently purchased the commercial property and is working with JMMS on bringing it back to its historical look. Program Director Peg Raney explains some of the next phases that they will be working on for the building.
“Main Street (Iowa) will be able to help with the design. And what the next step would be is to tear off that siding and that awning, so that we can see what’s underneath. (And) take some pictures and get that information to the Iowa Main Street design consultant.”
Raney invites everyone to help them tear off the exterior at 6pm this Wednesday. She encourages volunteers to bring their own gloves and tools. She notes that this is a great opportunity to work with the City and community members to improve one of the historical buildings in the downtown district.
Raney will be our guest on today’s Let’s Talk Greene County program which airs during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on 98.9FM KGRA.
