guthrie county sheriffs

On Monday, the Guthrie Center City Council passed what they hope is the final draft of a 28E agreement, which would ultimately dissolve their police department and grant city law enforcement duties to the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office at a price of about $197,000/year. After being vetted by the Guthrie County Attorney’s Office, that 28E agreement will land on the table of the County Board of Supervisors this morning. The vote is expected to be close. Chairman Tom Rutledge and Supervisor Everett Grasty have vocalized support for the bill. Supervisor Clifford Carney has been on the fence but says he could see himself voting for the legislation. Supervisor Mike Dickson is undecided and Supervisor Jerry Caraher has been largely against the measure. Stay tuned to Raccoon Valley Radio for updates on the future of law enforcement in Guthrie Center.
