The Guthrie Center City Council has decided to spend approximately $14,000 to get the City’s and Firefighter’s Association’s books audited by the State Auditor’s Office. They had a bid standing from Cornwell, Frideres, Maher & Associates P.L.C., of Fort Dodge, to audit their books for approximately $5,000. Councilmember Roger Underwood says the Fort Dodge firm has audited their books for the past several years and done a good job, but he believes the City should change up who audits their books every several years, even if it means spending several thousand dollars more.
