The No. 5 ADM softball Tigers (12-2) put on an impressive display Friday and Saturday in their home tournament, going 4-0 with four shutouts. Junior pitcher Molly Jacobsen impressed all weekend, firing a no-hitter in the team’s final game of the weekend Saturday against Roland-Story. Jacobsen finished the weekend with a line of 4 hits allowed in 25 innings with 44 strikeouts and two walks. Below are notes from each game:

Game 1, Friday: ADM 13, Van Meter 0

The Tigers jumped all over Van Meter with a nine-run first inning, winning the game in five innings via run rule. ADM added two more runs in the third and fourth innings as the Tigers banged out 10 hits and only two starters failed to record a hit. Sophomore Kate Collins went 2-for-2 with her first home run and drove in four, and Kenzi Sutton and Lexi Wyant each had three hits, doubled and scored a run.

Kila Carbine also hit her first homer of the season for ADM, which got four one-hit innings out of junior Molly Jacobsen, who struck out six and walked none.

Game 2, Friday: ADM 2, Ballard 0

This game belonged to Jacobsen, who went the distance and allowed just two hits while striking out 14 and walking none. Gabbie Glenn drove in the Tigers only runs with an RBI groundout in the third and a run-scoring double in the fifth. Taylor Boorn picked up a pair of hits, doubling two batters ahead of Glenn’s run-scoring groundout and singling with one-out in the fifth, when she was replaced by pinch-runner Abby Jacobsen, who scored on Glenn’s fifth-inning double.

Game 3, Saturday: ADM 4, Colfax-Mingo 0

ADM came on late in this one, while Jacobsen again dominated and Collins continued to show off her power stroke. The Tigers scored two in the fourth and one run in the fifth and sixth innings to back Jacobsen, who allowed just one hit and struck out 13 while walking none over seven innings. Collins hit a solo homer and scored twice, Carbine knocked in a run and Sutton scored a pair of runs.

Game 4, Saturday: ADM 7, Roland-Story 0

Jacobsen saved her best performance for last, firing a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts and two walks. Boorn gave her pitcher more than enough support, cranking a grand slam to left-center in the second, and finished the day with five RBIs. Wyant picked up two more hits, scored twice, and knocked in a run.

UPDATE, 3:30 p.m.: ADM’s home game against Ballard scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday has been postponed due to wet field conditions; no makeup date has been announced. The Tigers will step out of conference Tuesday night for a home contest against an undefeated (12-0) Greene County team ranked third in Class 3A by the IGHSAU.
