national weather serviceHeavy rains continue and a flood warning has been issued for portions of Dallas County.

According to the National Weather Service, the North Raccoon River near Perry is under a warning until early Tuesday morning.

The affected area stretches between the Greene and Dallas County line to Adel.

According to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineer’s river gauges, as of 5am on Saturday the North Raccoon River near Jefferson has increased more than 1.3 feet in the past 24 hours, to 12.57 feet, or close to 6.5 feet under flood stage.   Near Perry, the North Raccoon River level has an increased by 2.6 feet and is currently .01 feet above flood stage.

Additionally, the Buttrick Creek near Grand Junction has gone up .21 feet since yesterday and is currently at a level of 23.52 feet, or 11.5 feet above flood stage.

Meanwhile, the Middle Raccoon River near Bayard has seen an almost 3 feet decrease in the past 24 hours and was last reported at 16.55  feet, or 2.5 feet above flood stage.  The Middle Raccoon near Panora is currently 3.8 feet below flood stage and the South Raccoon at Redfield has seen an almost 3 feet decrease since Friday and is currently just under 11 feet below the 20 foot flood stage.

The National Weather Service says minor flooding is currently happening in Dallas County. Experts expect the river to rise to 16.1 feet above the flood stage by midnight tonight and return to safe levels by Monday morning.

The primary area expected to be impacted by this flooding is 180th Lane west of Minburn.
