Everyone is invited to enjoy a week of free movies at the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson.

Due to sponsorships from local businesses, three movies will be shown for free at the movie theater starting later this week.  Disney’s Dumbo will be this Friday and Saturday.  Then Sunday, June 14th through Tuesday, June 16th will be Frozen and the week will finish up with Cars on Wednesday, June 17th and Thursday, June 18th.  Friday’s movie times are 4 and 7pm and times for the other days are 2 and 7pm.

Sponsors for the free movies includes Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson Telecom, Prairie Skye Productions and Greene County Chamber of Commerce for $200.  The $100 sponsors are Bunkers Dunkers Bakery, Community State Bank, Edward Jones, Jefferson Veterinary Clinic, Krieger Flower Shop and Greenhouse, MacDonald Insurance and Jefferson Iowa Realty, Midland Power, Syngenta, Unger Insurance and Tom and Sue Wind.

A donation “popcorn bucket” will be available for those who would like to continue to support the non-profit organization and continue to improve the movie theater.

Since 2012, donations have made it possible for the movie theater to upgrade to digital surround sound and receive 3-D equipment and show the latest movie releases.
