Beginning tomorrow, admission will be charged for all West Central Valley baseball and softball games, including middle school games at a cost of $2 for adults and $1 for students. Activities Director Tod Broman says that the district has been charging admission to all high school and middle school athletic events around the calendar, besides summer, but the writing was on the wall that it was going to change. “I could see it coming. Baseball and softball in the summer, and especially for middle school, has been a losing proposition, you could say. In the past there hasn’t been any gate receipts and we pay money for umpires, so we’re digging a hole financially. With the facility we have today, it’s easier to monitor the gate so they decided that we need to start charging admission.”
Broman says people can use their district activity pass to bypass the admission cost.
