The Perry baseball and softball teams will travel to Carroll tonight for a Raccoon River Conference matchup. The Bluejays are soaring high after a 10-6 road win at number two Dallas Center Grimes. Perry will take on their 3rd ranked opponent out of the four teams they have seen this year. Carroll was the preseason number 10 selection in 3A. The Bluejays are currently 3-1 and riding a three game win streak after losing to 4th ranked Norwalk on opening night.
The Perry softball team will look to strike the win column for the first time tonight when they battle the Tigers. The Jayettes nearly upset a top 5 program Friday night when they fell to Norwalk 4-1. Sophomore pitcher Emma Olejniczak struck out 14 batters in the loss and continues to get better with each game.
“If you know Emma, you know she is such a competitor,” stated Head Coach Tina Kenney. “She will work and work until she gets it right. She has developed a real solid mental toughness thanks to some of the positions she has been in as a pitcher for us the past couple of years. She loves to compete and knows what it takes to improve her game and increase her speed and location of pitches.”
Both games will start at 7:30 with the baseball game airing on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
