This year’s Bell Tower Festival will feature more motorcycle-related activities.
Committee member Angie Reese-Hueser says this year’s poker run will include four stops such as the Riverside Tavern in Lehigh, The Bikes in Fort Dodge, The Junkyard in Barnum and 209 Main in Paton before returning to Jefferson. She explains how the poker run works at each location.
“When you register, you’ll get a sheet of paper and when you get to that place, they will hand you a card. And when you get back, it’s the best hand wins.”
There will be prizes for the three best hands. First place is $250, second place is $125 and third place is $75. The cost to participate is $20 per person and if you pre-register, you will receive a free t-shirt.
Reese-Hueser talks about their musical entertainment following the poker run that everyone is invited to for free.
“We will have a band, Planet Rock from Fort Dodge, like we have for the last few years. They are going to be playing in the beer garden and if you haven’t heard them, you are really missing out.”
Other activities includes the motorcycle and car show, beer and wine tasting on the south end of Hy-Vee’s parking lot, the Dixie Chopper motorcycle from Orange County Choppers will be on display and there are several raffle prizes available. The main prize is a bike lift, plus there are two tailgate benches and two Harley Davidson adirondack chairs. Raffle tickets are $20 each or three for $50.
Reese-Hueser points out another new twist to this year’s activities is a guided tour of Templeton Rye in Carroll. She says all spots are filled for this year, but they have plans to continue it next year.
All proceeds will go back to Raccoon Valley Kiwanis Aktion Club. Reese-Hueser says they donated $1,500 last year and are looking for more this year.
