Greene County is 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play following a 4-1 softball victory over South Hamilton (Jewell) in Jefferson on Monday night. The Hawks fell to 1-2 overall and in the conference.

Senior Marissa Promes fanned 10 batters, walked just one, and allowed five singles en route to the complete game victory. She is now 6-0 on the pitching rubber. Sophomore Leandra Dierson took the loss. She allowed 12 hits, but worked out of trouble more times than not.

Greene County had single runs in the second, third, fifth, and sixth innings, while the Hawks put together three straight two-out singles in the fourth for their lone tally.

Senior Kayla Mobley homered and doubled and senior Emma Saddoris singled and tripled. Each player had one run batted in, as did senior Tressa Rasmussen on a single, and junior Carleigh Paup with a SAC fly. Senior Hannah Onknen singled three times with Paup and Rasmussen each singling twice and Emily Christensen adding a base hit.

The Rams left 11 runners on base to four for SH, and both teams were charged with one error.

Greene County, ranked fifth in Class 3A, is idle tonight and will host Nevada in HOIAC play on Wednesday night.
