Though teachers and librarians both talk about the importance of making sure kids read during the summer, fun reading programs are not just for students.

The Perry Public Library is again offering an adult reading program this summer too.

“The adults just wrote a short little review on a book that they have read and we have small prizes they receive for the first six that they do.  Then we have a grand prize and we’re giving away a Kindle Fire HD 7, as well as an overnight stay at the Hotel Pattee and $50 in Perry Bucks.  We just know the adults want to read and enjoy that, so the short reviews are very low key for them” says Circulation Clerk Marlene Johnson.

In addition, Johnson says they have several special programs planned throughout the summer including the blood drive on Thursday, a Cards for Heroes event later this month and a program on organ donation.
