The Greene County High School baseball and softball teams return to Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play tonight by hosting South Hamilton (Jewell) in Jefferson. The softball is scheduled for broadcast on KG98 around 7:30 p.m. at the City Diamond on East Lincolnway. The baseball is set for 7:15 p.m. at Allensworth Field.

Greene County is 3-0 in the softball conference, but none of the victories have been easy. Last week the Rams won 9-7 over Colfax-Mingo, 2-0 vs. PCM (Monroe), and 5-2 at CMB in Collins when Coach Tom Kennedy’s team scored five times in the seventh inning.

Ram baseball is off to a 2-1 start overall and in the conference. After run-rule victories over C-M 12-0 and PCM 10-0, Coach Mark Sawhill’s team lost a tough one in Collins to CMB, 3-2. The Raiders scored the tying and winning runs on a single to left with two outs in the bottom of the seventh on a 3-2 pitch.
