Though highly suspected since preliminary test results were released Tuesday, multiple tests performed by the United States Department of Agriculture have now officially confirmed the presence of the H5N2 avian flu at Rose Acres’ Stuart egg farm. The farm has already begun humanely depopulating their nearly one million bird population and the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Communications Director Dustin Vande Hoef says the birds will be buried on site. There will be no need for transportation or landfill services.
