There are a variety of activities that youth can join at the beginning of June with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.
Director Vicky Lautner says 8th through 12th graders can sign up for an advanced performance training with instructor Simeon Lang. It will be on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:30-7:45pm from June 1st through August 7th. The program will teach student-athletes good technique with bodyweight training while gaining strength and agility. The cost for the class is $225 and there’s a limit of 12 participants.
A new class will teach youth about golfing fundamentals at the Jefferson Community Golf Course. The junior golf instructional classes will be taught by Micah Destival and it will be on Wednesdays from 8-8:50am for six through eight year-olds and 9-9:50am for nine through eleven year-olds. The two session program will be from June 3rd through June 24th and July 1st through July 22nd. The cost to participate is $25.
Anyone 10 through 14 year-olds can register for the youth archery program. Lautner says the classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 9th through July 16th from noon to 1:15pm and 1:15 to 2:30pm. It will be taught by Don Orris, Skeeter Wilber and Phil Siglin at 1108 West Adams. The cost to participate is $25 per person.
