Senior Riah Nelsen has long been known for hit pitching prowess, even his bat, but his legs? The Greene County baseball senior used all three on Thursday night at Allensworth Field in Jefferson as the Rams opened the home portion of the season with a 10-0 ten-run rule victory over PCM (Monroe) in six innings. Greene County is 2-0 overall and in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with a pair of 10-run rule shut out wins. They’ll try to keep the momentum going tonight in Collins vs. Collins-Maxwell-Baxter, weather permitting.

Nelsen pitched the first no-hitter of his varsity career, which included 11 strikeouts and just two walks. He had a double and two singles at the plate with two runs batted in, and he had a delayed steal of h0me plate when the Mustangs’ were caught napping. All in all, it was a big night for Nelsen, and his teammates.

Dylan McConnell and Jordan Challen each had SAC fly RBI’s, while Colton Fitzpatrick singled and had an RBI. Daric Whipple, Reid Lamoureux, Tyler Beger, and Jordan Hostetler also singled.

The Rams scored once in the second inning, twice in the third, six times in the fifth, and once in the sixth.
