The City of Perry’s new Parks and Recreation Director has been on the job for just over a month now and he continues to be impressed with what the town and community has to offer.
This is John Anderson’s first parks and rec director position, having come from the assistant position in Creston. He says everyone has been very welcoming and he has several goals for the department.
“I’d love to see more utilization of the bike trails. I know they’re used often by the general public but we should also be using them more for some fundraising events. Also, you talk about the McCreary Community Building and it has been a huge asset to the community. It has been around for 33 years I think, so with 33 years of use and abuse, that building is going to need some major renovations in the coming years so I’d love to be able to focus on doing that.”
To get to know Anderson better, tune into today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County program when he shares more about his background and visions for Perry. You can hear that interview during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours on AM 1310 KDLS.
