Yesterday finally brought a break in the rain, a much needed one for those along parts of the Raccoon River.

According to the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers’ river gages, as of Wednesday afternoon the North Raccoon River levels near Jefferson had increased by 2.3 feet and near Perry it was up almost 3.3 feet in the past 24 hours.

The Middle Raccoon River near Bayard was nearly half a foot past its flood stage of 14 feet after increasing almost 2.5 feet in the last 24 hours, while the Panora gage showed levels around 4.5 feet below flood stage.  The South Raccoon River was more than 13 feet below flood stage, despite also increasing by around two feet since Tuesday.

There’s more rain in the forecast through tomorrow night.
