Graveside celebration of life for Carlyss Major,97, of Jefferson,  will be held11:00am, Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dunlap, Iowa. She is survived by her three children, Charlotte Schmidt of Jefferson, Iowa; Larry Major of Phoenix, Arizona; Janet Torrington, Wyoming; eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild, 13 great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, two nephews and two nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, Mary Greeley Hospice, Ames, Iowa, or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dunlap, Iowa.
