Those who are looking for something fun to do outdoors this spring are encouraged to check out the many amenities available in Dallas County.
Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says the County Conservation Board has five public parks that offer a host of things to do, free of charge.
“There’s different hiking at different parks. Our Voas (Nature) Area down by Minburn has incredible trails through prairies, woodlands and wetlands. They’re all mowed paths so you can walk through there. Sportsman’s (Park) of course has a small trail out there, besides the big Raccoon River Valley Trail. Down at Hanging Rock Park (in Redfield) we’ve got some great fishing down there, there are some nice trails there as well. The Kuehn Conservation Area down by Earlham, we have in the past allowed some tent camping there, down by the river but there’s a lot of good hiking down there and trails as well.”
Each park is open from either 8am until 10pm daily or half an hour before sunrise until 10pm.
