The Perry boys soccer team dropped a hard fought 1-0 match to #9 Des Moines Lincoln Monday night at Dewey Field. Lincoln scored the only goal of the night on a penalty kick in the first half.
“Lincoln was probably the best team we have faced all season,” added Head Coach Gary Overla. “Their ability to handle the ball was really impressive and they had team speed that could match ours. It’s no wonder why they are a top ten team in Iowa’s largest class. This game will be a good preparation game for us as we turn our attention to next week’s substate action. I thought our kids played really well but sometimes you have to tip the hat to the opposition and that was the case tonight.”
Perry will finish up the regular season later this week with road trips to Pella and Indianola on Thursday and Friday.
