When Perry Public Library Director Mary Murphy was able to land award winning and bestselling author William Kent Krueger as the first novelist featured in the inaugural All Dallas County Reads One Book event last year, she was ecstatic but knew it would be hard to top.
“However, we have done that because C.J. Box is coming this year, and C.J. Box is one of my all-time favorite authors.”
Murphy says when she interviewed for the job in Perry four and a half years ago, she did a book talk on Box’s first book.
“When you get involved in a series of a book, it’s like they’re family. It’s like you know them and then you want the next installment right away. I envy people that are reading (Box) for the first time because they’re just getting to know him.”
Murphy says details are still being set but the program will follow last year’s lead in having a meet and greet at the Hotel Pattee, followed by a free author talk at the Perry Performing Arts Center on September 17th.
We will bring you more information on the event as they become available.
