After a successful production at the high school this fall, the Perry Middle School is trying their luck at putting together a musical this spring.
The Jungle Book Kids will be performed tomorrow night in the Perry Performing Arts Center. Vocal Music Director Jenn Nelson says it has been more than 10 years since the middle school did a musical and they wanted to try something different.
“All the students in choir in the middle school are involved. So if they’re not playing a character, or a role, or a small part, everyone is in the chorus. And it’s the traditional Jungle Book story that people know from the Disney movie, it has just been shortened and condensed a little bit for younger students.”
Unlike most concerts, Nelson says they are using tickets for this performance. While attending the musical is free, she says this gives attendees who pick up tickets in advance the chance to choose their seats, and also allows the school to better track attendance.
The performance takes place at 7pm Tuesday and tickets can be picked up from the high school office in advanced or at the door the night of the show.
