Guthrie County Extension is reminding citizens that despite the presence of the Avian Flu in Iowa, eggs and poultry are still safe to eat. Coordinator Vicki Frohling says Avian Flu is not a foodborne pathogen and can not be contracted from eating properly cooked poultry and eggs. Poultry is safe to eat when it’s been cooked to an internal temperature of 170 degrees.
