ADM senior Kari Dufoe finished in second place in the high school girls’ 100 meter dash on Friday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. She was third a season ago in the same event and moved to the runner-up spot this year by turning in a 12.25 clocking in the finals. Dufoe ran the preliminaries in 12:45 seconds and was the second fastest going into the final. Unlike the State Meet, which is run in four separate classes, the Drake Relays pit athletes from all classes together, proving again this season that ADM’s Dufoe is among the very best sprinters in the state, regardless of class.

Dufoe also anchored ADM to a win in their heat of the 4 x 100 meter relay in a season best time of 50.46 seconds. The Tigers were eleventh in the field of 80 teams, but just the fastest eight advance to this afternoon’s final. Maggi Bjustrom, Sami Schepers, and Sydney Bertman ran the first three legs.

Other events on Friday from the Raccoon Valley Radio area including three from Greene County. Senior hurdler Eme Johnson was 21st in the prelims of the 100 meter hurdles in 16.32 seconds. She was seventh in her heat, but moved up six spots after qualifying 27th in the field of 32. Both 4 x 100 meter relays for the Rams ran the Preliminaries early Friday evening. The girls won their heat in 51.79 seconds and were 41st in the field of 80 after qualifying 49th. That quartet was Mollie Sorber, Emma Saddoris, Emily Christensen, and Olivia Hansen.

The Greene County boys were third in their preliminary heat in 44.93 seconds and 59th overall after qualifying 60th. Dylan McConnell led off with Dalton Weber second, Dylan Hamilton third, and Max Neese on the anchor.

Emmitt Wheatley of Adair-Casey ran the prelims of the boys’ 100 meter dash. He was sixth in his heat in 11.79 seconds and was 29th in the field of 32 runners.

The 106th Drake Relays wrap up today at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
