The ADM girls soccer squad had been eager for a challenge after starting the season 3-0, outscoring opponents an impressive 19-0 . The No. 13 Tigers got that and more Tuesday night in Adel, losing their first game of the season, 3-0, to Waukee, the No. 4 team in Class 3A.
Tigers head coach Kelsey Dolder said her team created several nice attacks through Emily Hofmann, Allie Cook and Sydney Bertman, but simply couldn’t convert. Dolder added she was pleased with the play of her backline despite it allowing the first three goals of the season. She said ADM shut down many of the Warriors’ attacks.
Dodler also praised the play of freshman Sydney Canney off the bench as both a midfielder and defender.
The Tigers will host a two-day tournament beginning Friday night in Adel that includes Bishop Heelan, Des Moines Hoover, Glenwood, Grinnell, North Scott, Norwalk, Sioux City East High School, St. Albert Catholic Junior and Bondurant-Farrar.
