There are a few spots available for the second annual Color Out Cancer 5K Run/Walk during the Relay for Life of Greene County event on Saturday.
Relay Chair Peg Raney says registration forms are available at the Greene County Community Center and at any of the County libraries. Participants will receive a specially-designed t-shirt and a wristband for a free meal after the race. Raney talks about some of the other details about what people can expect along the race route.
“And there’ll be five stations along the (race) route. And they’re going to try and do this a little differently this year, they’ve got squirt bottles that they’re actually going to squirt powder onto the (free) t-shirt. So don’t worry about it coming up into your eyes and face as much.”
The race will start and end at the rec center. The cost to participate is $25 for anyone ages 13 and older and $15 for anyone ages 12 and younger. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.
Sponsors for the Color Out Cancer 5K Run/Walk include American Athletic Incorporated/Spalding for donating the t-shirts, Joe’s Body & Paint for donating the different colors, Peoples Trust & Savings Bank for donating the colors and volunteer workers and ShineOn Designs for designing and printing all the t-shirts.
The race will start at 10:30am on Saturday, April 25th following the cancer survivor walk from the rec center to the start of the race at the Doreen Wilbur statue.
