The annual Greene County Coed Ram Relays are today in Jefferson at Linduska Field. In addition to the Greene County teams, girls’ teams from ADM, Boone, Carroll, East Sac County, Kuemper Catholic, and Perry are in the field. The Greene County boys host Boone, Carroll, East Sac County, Guthrie Center, Kuemper Catholic, Saydel, and Perry. Starting time is 5 p.m.
The Greene County girls have won both of the scored meets they’ve been in this season, but ADM and Boone could very well both be among the top teams at the Class 3A State Meet next month at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. On the boys’ side, the Rams have been in the upper division of all of their meets so far.
Greene County will have three events at the Drake Relays in Des Moines later this week. Senior hurdler Eme Johnson gets things started for the Rams at 8 a.m. on Friday, April 24. Johnson is one of 32 girls in the prelims with the finals set for the eight fastest at 11:36 a.m. Friday.
Both Greene County teams have qualified 4 x 100 meter relays at Drake. The Greene County girls run on Friday, April 24 at 5:10 p.m. The girls’ quartet of seniors Mollie Sorber, Emma Saddoris, Emily Christensen, and sophomore Olivia Hansen have a season best time of 52.20 seconds. On the boys’ side, the Rams have a season best time of 44.93 seconds with seniors Dylan McConnell, Dylan Hamilton, sophomore Dalton Weber, and junior Max Neese. The boys run at 6 p.m. Friday. There are 80 teams in the girls prelims and another 80 in prelims for boys. The eight fastest qualify for Saturday afternoon’s finals.
