A West Central Valley junior recently competed in a power lifting competition at Woodward Academy, becoming the first student in school history to do so. The meet was sanctioned USA Powerlifting event and featured competitors from as far away as Sioux Falls, South Dakota. West Central Valley’s Truman Wiles competed well in the 181 pound weight class, posting maximum lifts of 335 pounds in the squat, 265 pounds in the bench press and 425 pounds in the deadlift. While Wiles combined lift total of 1,025 pounds was impressive, it wasn’t enough to earn him an invitation to the national power lifting competition.
