We’re now less than a week away from the annual Fireworks Drive and the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce is looking to raise five-figures to help put on a spectacular display this 4th of July.
Thursday’s efforts kick off on AM 1310 KDLS at 8am with the annual pie auction. Local bakers will be donating treats that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder live on the air. In addition, volunteers will also be lined up downtown Perry taking donations throughout the day.
Chamber Executive Director Bob Wilson says it takes everyone’s participation to make this a success.
“The idea here is any donation helps. Five cents, five dollars, if you write a $5,000 check we could go home before noon. But you know, it’s one of those things, the whole community needs to get behind (this) because this is so important for you guys to enjoy your 4th of July fireworks.”
