There are two primary projects identified as priorities for the Dallas County roads department during the 2016 construction year.
The first is a six mile stretch of F-31 from Minburn east to R-22. Engineer Jim George says the existing 35 year-old pavement will be recycled and used as a base for an asphalt road. The project is estimated at $4 million, which will be funded primarily with federal monies.
The second project on the list is the replacement of the bridge on 130th Street over Little Beaver Creek. Exact plans for the project are not known yet because, depending on the route of the Raccoon River Valley Trail to High Trestle Trail connection, the bridge may need to be built to accommodate bicycle traffic. The cost of the basic bridge reconstruction is estimated at $400,000.
A public hearing in regards to the five year road construction plan will be held at the next Dallas County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday morning in Adel.
