As a captain of the ADM girls varsity cross country team in the fall, senior Jenny Wicks has the credibility to make a judgement on this season’s distance runners for the Tigers girls’ track team.
The Tigers’ sprinters garner a lot of well-deserved attention, but Wicks said ADM’s long-distance runners can make an impact this year because of the strong bond they share.
“I think we really have good team chemistry – especially a lot of us ran cross country together, and it was nice to see us run together as a pack,” Wicks said. “And so we all kind of know about each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and we’re good at encouraging each other. I think we have a good outlook on the season because when we run together we come together, and we do a lot more than if we were separate.”
Wicks and the rest of the ADM girls track team continue to prepare for their first outdoor meet of the season on Monday at Dallas-Center Grimes.
