Greene County track & field sophomore Olivia Hansen is already a State Meet veteran. Hansen became the first girl in a Ram program in at least 20 years to run the 400 meter dash in under 60 seconds (59.88) at the 2014 State Meet, and she also became a reliable relay anchor. Hansen and the Rams are preparing for the 2015 outdoor season opener in Jefferson at Linduska Field on Monday, March 30 at the Greene County Early Bird Meet.

Hansen told Raccoon Valley Radio her focus is on the sprint medley relay where she runs the 400 meter anchor leg. “I want to do better than tenth at State, which is where we placed last year.” She added her individual goals in the 400 meter dash are to run under 59 seconds. Hansen is a rare athlete in that she was the number one runner last fall for the Rams’ top 10 rated cross-country team where the distance was 2.48 miles, yet she is outstanding at just one-fifth that distance on the track. “I don’t know where that comes from. I guess it just comes naturally,” Hansen said of her ability to excel at both short and long distances.
