The Jefferson Police Department recently released its statistics from this past Special Traffic Enforcement Program from the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau.
Captain Mark Clouse says from March 13th through the 17th, officers issued 26 warnings and three citations. The most warnings was nine for vehicle equipment violations. Other warnings included six for speeding, four for other traffic violations, three for not wearing a seatbelt, three for registration violations and one for no proof of insurance. The three citations were for stop sign/stop light violation, possessing an open container of alcohol and no proof of insurance. The department also investigated two traffic accidents.
Last St. Patrick’s holiday sTEP Wave, the police department issued 53 warnings and three citations.
Clouse adds that there were four patrol officers working at various locations within Jefferson during the latest sTEP Wave.
