A grassroots movement to change the way the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors is elected continues to progress. The goal of the petitioning movement is to let registered voters in Guthrie County vote for Supervisor candidates in all five districts, rather than just the district they reside in. Cheryl Castile is one of the organizers of the movement and says  the proposed change keeps Supervisors focused on the entire County instead of their district. “I don’t know if there’s anything wrong with the system we have. We think that there’s better representation and a better possible opportunity for everybody to be involved with everything that is going on.”

If the petition gets at least 450 signatures by June 1st, then a County-wide referendum would occur in August to vote on the change of election process. For more information about the petition, you can call Castile at 641-755-2239.
