Former Perry all state linebacker Kane Seeley is entering spring ball with a little bit of a different mindset the previous two years.  The soon to be redshirt junior will be one of the more experienced linebackers on the Iowa State roster.  Seeley started the final four games last year and finished the season with a career best 13 tackles against Kansas.

“I think experience for me will be the biggest thing to take to the next level.  You can go through all the practice reps in the world but until you step out on the field and experience the type of speed that is present in the Big 12 Conference, you’ll never fully be ready.  It was great to get out there and be a part of that game speed and know what its like moving forward.”

Seeley and junior Luke Knott are the two returning starters for Iowa State next season.

The Iowa State football team’s annual spring football game will take place on April 11 at Jack Trice Stadium.

Kickoff time will be determined at a later date. Attendance to the game is free.

The game marks the first chance fans will get to see of the Cyclones, who are coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons.

Iowa State went 2-10 season in 2014, including a winless record of 0-9 in Big 12 Conference play.

The Cyclones, who finished 3-9 overall and 2-7 in conference play in 2013, haven’t been to a bowl game since 2012.

Iowa State opens the 2015 season against Northern Iowa on Sept. 5 at Jack Trice Stadium. Construction of the stadium’s bowled-in south end zone is expected to be completed by then.
