The 2015 Adair and Guthrie County severe storm spotting training class will take place tonight in Menlo. Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf says the course is taught by a National Weather Service Meteorologist and includes some of the science behind storms. “It’s a class that discusses what a tornado is. What the differences between a tornado and a funnel cloud are. The different types of cloud formations. What it takes to make a tornado with updrafts and downdrafts. Also, a little bit about hail and lightning, of course.”
Tonight’s class is free, open to the public and starts at 7 pm inside of the Menlo Community Building, located at 417 Sherman Street. The event is walk-in and no preregistration is required.
