To say it was unusually warm for the first day of high school golf practice in Iowa is an understatement. Greene County boys’ golf coach Dave Destival told Raccoon Valley Radio he doesn’t remember any other opening days this warm. “Oh my goodness, what a day!. Over 80 degrees and a nice breeze from the west to keep you a little cool. I don’t remember any other first day of practice being this warm, even going back to when I was a volunteer coach. Usually, ice chips are flying and the kids are begging to go home right away!”
Cooler temperatures are expected the rest of the week, but no ice chips are in the forecast.
The Rams open the season on Monday, April 6 with the Carroll High teams. The boys will play in Carroll with the girls at The Hill west of Grand Junction.
