The Adel City Council recently approved their fiscal year 2016 budget.

According to the budget estimate summary, the estimated total tax levy rate is $14.55 cents per $1,000 of valuation, and a $3.00 tax levy rate for agricultural land.

Budgeted revenues total $6.3 million.  This includes $1.6 million in taxes levied on property, $1.7 million for charges for fees and services, $1 million in transfers in and $640,000 in Tax Increment Financing revenues.

Expenditures in the budget total $5.6 million, including $983,000 for public safety, $981,000 for debt service, $797,000 for culture and recreation and $439,000 for public works. In addition there is another $1 million expected for transfers out.

The ending fund balance on June 30 of 2016 is estimated at $2,254,167.
