Today begins National Flood Safety Awareness Week. Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf says if you have a home near a flood plain, there are some things you can do to minimize the amount of damage this spring. “Some of the easiest things are common sense. If you have a low lying area of your house or basement, put things off the ground on pallets or in plastic crates. Take and set your hot water heater, washer, dryer and freezer off the ground on bricks. Make sure your sump pump works; make sure the hose didn’t freeze or crack over the winter.”
Kempf will be our guest today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County, which airs during the 9 am, noon and 5 pm hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com
