Registrations are now being accepted for this year’s Color Out Cancer 5K run/walk that takes place during the Greene County Relay for Life event on April 25th.
Over 250 participants raised $4,700 in the debut of the non-competitive race. The route is the same that’s used during the Bell Tower Festival’s Ding Dong Dash 5K. Along the route, there will be five color checkpoints that participants will learn about five different kinds of cancer. Volunteers will blast the racer’s t-shirts with the corresponding color with the goal of crossing the finish line with the most colorful shirt.
There a few changes to this year’s race. Pre-registration is required and will be limited to the first 300 entries. Those who sign up will receive a wristband which will allow them to receive a special t-shirt and a complimentary lunch on race day.
Registration fees are $20 for ages 13 and older and $15 for kids ages 12 and under. Forms are available at the Greene County Community Center and at any of the County libraries. Forms need to be submitted to the community center in Jefferson and checks need to be payable to the American Cancer Society.
