The Panorama School District recently held a competition that allowed students to discover their potential in engineering. The Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics and Science (TEAMS) competition gives middle and high school students the opportunity to use practical and creative methods to solve real-world engineering challenges.
Panorama High School math teacher Robyn Ploeger says the challenges required critical thinking, collaboration, analytical skills and multidimensional problem solving. The exercise meshes well with Governor Terry Branstad’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative for the state’s schools.
