Veterans who served the Union Army during the American Civil War will be honored with signs on the East and West sides of Stuart. Stuart resident and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War member Daniel Rittel spoke to the City Council about placing the two Grand Army of the Republic signs at each end of the city. City Attorney Bill Bump says his family lost three members in the Civil War, and volunteered to pay for the $40 cost for the signs out of of his own pocket. Rittel says he wants to get similar signs installed around Menlo and Casey.
